A Day at Wold Farm Fishery – Carp, Barbel and a Bit of Waterside Therapy

14 Oct 2026

A three-night break at Billing Aquadrome gave us the perfect excuse to explore somewhere new. We headed to Wold Farm Fishery for a spot of waterside therapy, settling on Moat Lake for a relaxing day's fishing. With Courtney fishing the method feeder and me on the pole, we enjoyed a lovely mixed catch of carp, skimmers and barbel. The highlight? Courtney, landing her first-ever barbel, a beautiful 4 lb fish — just a little bigger than mine! A cracking day at a welcoming fishery, and definitely somewhere we'd visit again.

🎣 Two Lumps on the Short Line! – Lindholme, Loco Lake

14 Oct 2026

A soaking wet start to the rod-only open on Loco Lake at Lindholme turned into a memorable day's fishing. After struggling for bites on the feeder, a switch to a loaded insert waggler on a carefully fed short line produced two enormous mirror carp weighing 31 lb 1 oz between them. A final weight of 44 lb 8 oz secured 7th place, but the real success was discovering another promising method for future rod-only matches.

Sub-zero morning, patchy ice across several lakes, one early perch on the whip — then the cold beat us before the fishing did.
